Angiogenic factors and ovarian follicle development

چکیده

Ovarian follicles require an adequate blood supply for oxygen, nutrients and hormones, in addition to eliminating CO2 and other metabolites. Acquisition of an adequate vascular supply is probably a limiting step in the selection and maturation of the dominant follicle. In this way, there is a progressive interest in the study of the growth factors involved in the angiogenic process. In addition, a better understanding about the mechanisms that regulate the expression and action of these factors could be a key point to increase the reproductive performance in females. Therefore, this review aims to summarize current data on the importance of the proand anti-angiogenic growth factors which regulate angiogenesis in ovarian follicle development.

Manipulation of ovarian follicle development by injecting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene.

The genetic and molecular mechanisms that control the development of capillary blood vessels during follicular development are beginning to be elucidated. Ovarian follicles contain and produce angiogenic factors that may act alone or in concert to regulate thecal angiogenesis. These factors are ultimately controlled by endocrine, paracrine and autocrine regulation in the ovary. Our recent study...

Regulation of the ovarian follicular vasculature

Angiogenesis is associated with follicular development and is regulated independently within each follicle potentially making the functioning of its vasculature critically important in determining its fate. This review examines the various ways in which follicular angiogenesis may be monitored, describes the follicular localisation and changes in pro- and anti-angiogenic factors that may regula...

VEGF and FGF2 Improve Revascularization, Survival, and Oocyte Quality of Cryopreserved, Subcutaneously-Transplanted Mouse Ovarian Tissues

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) on revascularization, survival, and oocyte quality of cryopreserved, subcutaneously-transplanted mouse ovarian tissue. Autologous subcutaneous transplantation of vitrified-thawed mouse ovarian tissues treated with (experimental group) or without (control grou...

مروری بر فعالیت عوامل رگزایی و مرگ سلولی در بافت تخمدان پیوندی

Many changes of female reproductive system are based on the vascular activity and blood flow. In ovarian follicular development, re-anastomosis is critical and permits cells and oocytes to utilize nutrients as well as the hormones. Moreover, it plays a main role in corpus luteum formation. Female reproductive system undergoes several angiogenesis programs which are considered essential in order...

Role of vascular endothelial growth factor in ovarian physiology - an overview.

In the female reproductive system, as in a few adult tissues, angiogenesis occurs as a normal process and is essential for normal tissue growth and development. In the ovary, new blood vessel formation facilitates oxygen, nutrients, and hormone substrate delivery, and also secures transfer of different hormones to targeted cells. Ovarian follicle and the corpus luteum (CL) have been shown to pr...
